[Brigands] Border Patrol Assaulted by Pirates |
|
Jun 29, 2009 - 4:22 AM - by Lunerith
|
Twenty-fourth brightening of Aperitus, Longest Winter, Era XVI
A brig was hijacked from the royal fleet this morning, as it was patrolling the border coast near Enamoria and Sheria. The event was witnessed by scouts from the royal legions stationed near the border, who sent out a runner immediately. Accounts from some of the surviving seamen indicate that the captain of the ship fought to the bitter end, taking down at least half a dozen pirates before succumbing to his injuries.
The pirates launched a surprise attack in the early morning, pretending to be a merchant ship blown off course from Daltina by the hazardous winds. The captain was initially considering sinking the ship, as per his orders to sink any ship coming from Sheria, but refrained from doing so because of the past few days storm in the area. The trade ship turned out to be heavily armed and managed to incapacitate the brig sufficiently to allow the heavily armed pirates on board,... [Read More]

|
The Thirteenth of Aperitus, Era Sixteenth of the Longest Winter Part Deux.
JAEDAXIA -- rumors run wild as hundreds, if not thousands, of Jaedaxians flock to Le Cathedral du Carmelya following the breathtaking display of magic earlier last darkening. In a surprising show of prowess and guardianship to their city, the druids of Le cathedral unleashed a magical shield. Witnesses claim that trees throughout the city literally bloomed as if it were Spring while nearby vineyards claim that an ethereal glow hovered over the frozen farmlands as if the earth itself was responding to to the druids' magic.
"We serve Carmelya and she desires nothing more than harmony between man and nature", comments the Archdruidess Aa'ondora of the Druids Copse, "obviously this weather is abnormal and needs to be tamed. I have spent an excess of of one hundred fifty... [Read More]

[Politics] Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development |

The Month of Aperitus, in the Longest Winter, Era XVI.
My fellow citizens, I write to each and every citizen of the Kingdom of Aelyria from my desk at the newly created Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development. It is the intention of this article to explain clearly the purpose of setting up a new ministry and to call on those who believe in a new forward thinking kingdom to consider their own ideas for the shape of Aelyria for the future.
Discussions took place during early winter this conversation called by Prince Milo was dedicated to a vision of the future. It has become apparent that much of the work of government has been reactive rather than proactive. Fire fighting the moment is insufficient to truly begin the process of recovery.
That is not the vision of the prince despite the travails of the... [Read More]

[Brigands] Socialites Deplore State of Daltinan Waterfront |

Fourth brightening of Aperitus, Longest Winter, Era XVI
One smuggler was killed and two smugglers were caught this morning (13th of Aperitus, ed.), attempting to sell illegally acquired and illicit goods. Paladins from the White Obsidian Chapter assisted city guards in apprehending the criminals. No information could be gotten as to the nature of the goods, but our reporter managed to catch a glimpse: Some of the open crates contained meat and wine that the smugglers presumeably intended to sell at exorbitant prices!
However, the nobility of Daltina is none too pleased with the situation. One upstanding citizen spoke out on the matter: ”It is scandalous that the smugglers could even lay their ships to port in our fair city! The guard have not done their full duty, while our valuable cargo is still stolen by wreckers and pirates alike and then sold to us at three times the price by dishonest merchants!”
The Aedile of Daltina has... [Read More]

[Society] Prince Establishes Open Court |
|
Jun 17, 2009 - 3:52 AM - by Caerydd
|
1st Aperitus Era XVI of the Longest Winter, Prime Province - Tongues are wagging in the capital as His Royal Highness, Prince Milo, let it be known that he is establishing an Open Court. Luminaries of previous social seasons welcome the change, and merchants across Aelyria Prime report an increase in sales as nobles and rich commoners alike spend their savings on new accoutrements and fripperies to show off at the Open Court.
While His Highness may not have conceived his Open Court in the spirit of encouraging the Prime Socialites, they have seized upon the opportunity with vigour and are widely expected to be attending every single Court Session. How many also intend to seek an audience with the Prince is not known, but with the speculation surrounding Prince's marital state, many a mother will be dressing her daughter in finery.
